Katsuura Tuna Fish Market, 勝浦まぐろ市場 (Wakayama Pref.)

Wakayama’s Katsuura Fishing Port is known as one of the Japan’s leading landing bases for tuna fish, particularly Pacific Bluefin tuna.

There is an observation deck on the 2nd floor, where visitors can see the auction free of charge. You can also experience an early morning tuna fish auction guided by the fishery cooperative staff (only for the fishery cooperative ryokan guests) from 07:00 for 30 min. at JPY1,000 per person. Reservation required. Closed on Saturday. 5 min. walk from JR Katsuura Station.
